1. I am a collegiate athlete attending the University of Florida. As a college student, I fully support the idea of encouraging the importance of education and how it directly pertains to future success. Some of my talents include swimming, playing the piano, and surfing. I find that these are all hobbies that require dedication and ambition in order to be successful, which I think parallels the characteristics of a successful organization and entrepreneur. Some of my aspirations include creating a more stable and equal educational system throughout the US and eventually expand to globally. This is something I am very passionate about because I am aware of the unequal opportunities that are present to students throughout the US. I see my business concept playing a role in my life knowing that I am helping others and influencing others' lives through the efforts of my organization. This is a huge role in my life because I understand that it will take a lot of time and effort in order to keep it successful.

2. The unmet need I am addressing through my business concept is the lack of funding given to schools throughout the US that do not allow for students and staff, especially teachers, to learn and work at their greatest potential. Especially for students, adequate resources should be available in order to get the best learning experience. My organization involves fund raising events across the country in order to donate to these particular schools that do not have the resources necessary for their students and staff. My organization also offers the opportunity for customers to donate any unwanted technology that still works such as printers, computers, tablets, etc that will be immediately implemented in the learning style of these schools once enough resources are available.

3. I am offering it to a wide range of customers that obtain various demographic and psycho graphic characteristics. Ultimately, I am offering this to anyone who feels passionate and generous in helping this unmet need that is so widespread throughout our country and such a severe problem. My customers will most likely be older adults all over the country that are aware of this problem.

4. My customers will put money and donations into my service because it directly gives back to those in need, particularly those who our society's hands are in. In an effort to help this issue, my customers know that their donations are greatly affecting the lives of these students most importantly and providing them with a better education to set them up for successful futures.

5. The intentions of my business concept/organization are what ultimately sets me apart from the rest. The passion and drive behind this whole organization will show and make it much more attractive to customers wanting to donate and help. Exposing the severity of this problem is part of the campaign. Another thing that sets my organization apart from the others is the concept that every customer will get some form of gratitude for donating, whether that may be a picture of a student with a resource the customer provided, or a thank you letter from a student that received help directly from them.

I believe each of these five elements most definitely work together, and help strengthen my business concept. I like this assignment because it forces me to think of the logistics of this organization and how I can make it the best possible. From my feedback on my first Idea Napkin, I was encouraged to be more in depth with my answers to get a better understanding of the "how". Another piece of feedback I got was to keep in mind the importance of being different and how setting my organization apart from the others is important to be successful, so incorporating more ideas into this element was one thing I tried to focus on.

  2. Hey Kalie, I love the passion you have, that I got from when reading your response. Your have read your concept from earlier assignments and I can see that you have finalized and worked out the kinks from your original idea. I think you listened to your criticism and fixed what was the issue; this stands out to me and it will to other people.

  4. Kalie,

I love that your business is not for profit, it shows that your overall goal is bigger than you. Not everyone is aware of the unequal opportunities’ others have in our society, nor do they care to learn about them. I love that you’re passionate about this, as this is an important unmet need that could definitely change individuals lives positively. Great post!

  5. Hello Kalie,
Great work on your idea napkin assignment attempt number 2. I believe that as students at such a great university we have a huge responsibility to others to help them receive the same level of education. I think that you did a great job at really listening to the feedback that you got on your first idea napkin and applying that to this assignment.
